Stevie Wonder Announces 10-Date Fall Tour Ahead of Election, Calls for 'Joy Over Anger'

Music Legend Plans Stops in Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Los Angeles, and More

BURBANK, Calif. -- Stevie Wonder announced a 10-date fall tour Monday, hitting major cities such as Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Los Angeles, and San Francisco in the lead-up to the November election and encouraging fans to replace "anger" with "joy."

The tour, entitled "The Stevie Wonder Song Party: A Celebration of Life, Love & Music," kicks off in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Oct. 20 and concludes in Inglewood, California, on Nov. 15.

Wonder, a 25-time Grammy Award winner, said in a statement that he is "excited to see you all and share our collective joy together," adding, "Let's turn this difficult time into a celebration of life, love, and music."

Tickets Go On Sale Friday; Proceeds to Benefit Feeding America

Tickets for the tour go on sale Friday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. local time. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Feeding America, the nation's largest hunger-relief organization.

Wonder, 72, has been a longtime advocate for social justice and has used his platform to speak out on issues such as poverty, homelessness, and racial inequality.

In recent months, Wonder has been outspoken in his support of the Black Lives Matter movement and has called for unity and peace in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Call for 'Joy Over Anger': Wonder Hopes Tour Will Bring People Together

Wonder said he hopes the tour will bring people together and help them to "replace anger with joy."

"We need to come together and celebrate our shared humanity," Wonder said. "Let's use this tour as an opportunity to spread love and joy, and to make a difference in the world."

The tour announcement comes as the United States grapples with a number of challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, economic inequality, and racial injustice.

Wonder's message of hope and joy is a reminder that even in difficult times, there is always room for music, love, and unity.
